The printing process requires that your image is setup with the correct color profile for the process that is to be used. When creating an image on your computer it is most likely that it is setup as an RGB image, this is a 3 color system that is used for screen displays such as computer monitors and television. The process for full color printing requires a CMYK color profile, this is a 4 color system that allows for a high level of gradation and accurate color definition.
All graphics applications designed to produce media for print are able to convert your image to CMYK. Please refer to the user guide of your chosen program for instructions on how to do this.
If you are using a program such as Microsoft Publisher or Microsoft Word to create a image for print it is advised that you convert the file to a pdf and use Adobe Acrobat to convert the color profile to CMYK.
- When setting up an image for 1, 2 and 3 color prints it is required that your color profile is set up for the appropriate process.
- 1 color prints can be supplied as a Greyscale ( black and white ) image or any singular color you wish.
- 2 and 3 color prints make use of spot colors and require an advanced understanding of print production to prepare. If you do not already know how to prepare an image with spot color it is advised you seek the services of a qualified graphic designer to prepare your image.
